Veteran Documentary Project
Hello!
I’m Dr. Zach Rawlings, a Brooklyn-based clinical psychologist who works extensively with combat veterans.
I’m developing a short documentary-style proof of concept exploring what life after combat really looks like, particularly around identity, transition, and civilian life.
This initial film is a small production designed to demonstrate the tone and substance of a larger series currently in development.
What Participation Involves
- A brief 30-minute Zoom conversation to discuss the project
- One filmed, in-person session (approximately 90 minutes) in my Brooklyn office
- A $200 honorarium
- Fully voluntary participation
- Option to withdraw at any time prior to filming
Who I’m Looking For
- Male veterans
- Combat experience
- Currently living in the NYC area (or open to driving to Brooklyn for one filmed session)
- Open to participating in a filmed conversation
Purpose of the Project
This project aims to offer an authentic look at post-combat life, something rarely shown in mainstream media.
The short film will help determine whether a larger series focused on veterans’ experiences can move forward.
This is not a reality show or a sensationalized portrayal. The goal is seriousness, depth, and respect.
